About
A corporate accountant by day...a photographer by night...an odd combination, but Janet Young is anything but "typical". Her interest in photography began at a very young age. She received her very own Polaroid Instamatic camera at around age 6 and at that age, instant gratification was a must. Today, in the age of digital photography, we still benefit from that instant gratification and are able to learn at a much faster pace. She splits her time between Alvaton and Lexington, Kentucky and is very active in the art community of Bowling Green and surrounding areas in South-Central Kentucky. Although she explores all aspects of photography, Janet has found a true love in fine art imaging. Janet enjoys working with Commercial Clients and promoting the movement of ArtHealing. She strives to provide stress relief and comfort to all who view her work.
Artist Statement
My camera is my creative outlet for when I see art in everyday life. Life is a beautiful canvas in its own right and every now and then, I find an extraordinary snippet to capture and share. If I can garner a strange look or stare from a passerby as I am lying on the ground or in a creek, composing, I am succeeding in my quest to capture something extraordinary. It may be a dandelion puff, a snail on its daily adventure, or rocks! I see my photographs as an inventory collection of some of the beauty that this world has to offer. I am an avid traveler and my thirst for adventure is never without a camera in hand. Rules are meant to be broken and plans are meant to be changed. Do I think outside the box? You betcha! Kick that box to the curb!
